Data Engineer – Datastore Migration (Remote – Mexico)
Job Summary:
Join a high-impact, collaborative team leading the end-to-end migration of critical data assets from on-premises DataLake to a cutting-edge AWS Lakehouse platform. As a Data Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in refactoring data pipelines, modernizing consumption patterns, and ensuring the integrity of business-critical data. This is a great opportunity to leverage your technical expertise, work with leading technologies, and contribute to a transformative data modernization program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pipeline Migration:
- Refactor and migrate extraction logic and job scheduling from legacy frameworks to AWS Lakehouse.
- Physically transfer datasets while validating data integrity.
- Engage with internal stakeholders for asset “hand-off” and sign-off.
- Migration of Consumption Patterns:
- Translate and optimize legacy SQL and Spark code to Snowflake and Iceberg environments.
- Analyze usage patterns to deliver required data products.
- Data Validation & Reconciliation:
- Implement rigorous data validation using reconciliation frameworks.
- Ensure migrated data matches production requirements.
- Collaboration & Continuous Learning:
- Partner closely with data management platform teams.
- Adapt to new workflows and language constructs as technologies evolve.
Skills & Technologies:
- Core: AWS, Kafka, FTP, Apache Spark, ANSI SQL
- Data Formats: JSON, Avro, Parquet
- Platforms: Hadoop (HDFS/Hive), Snowflake, Apache Iceberg, Sybase IQ
- Coding: Python, Java
- Methodologies: SDLC, CI/CD, Kubernetes (K8s)
- Data Modeling: Temporal data modeling, schema management, performance optimization, normalization/denormalization strategies
