Job Title: Data Engineering (Big Data Developer)
Location: Mississauga, ON (Hybrid - 3 days or 2 days)

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Specialist – Data Engineering (Big Data Developer) to design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines for large-scale data processing. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with PySpark, Apache Spark, and big data ecosystems, along with expertise in SQL and ETL processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines using PySpark for large-scale data processing
- Perform data transformations, aggregations, and validations using Spark SQL and Data Frames
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction, reconciliation, and reporting
- Conduct data quality checks, profiling, and consistency validations
- Troubleshoot pipeline failures and perform root cause analysis for production issues
- Optimize Spark jobs for performance, scalability, and efficiency
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, QA, and DevOps teams in Agile environments
- Maintain technical documentation, workflows, and runbooks
- Ensure adherence to enterprise coding, deployment, and change management standards
Required Skills & Qualifications
Mandatory Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Apache Spark and PySpark
- Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases
- Experience with Big Data & Hadoop Ecosystem (Hive, HDFS)
- Strong knowledge of ETL concepts and large-scale data processing
- Experience working in Linux/Unix environments
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and debugging skills
- Experience supporting production data pipelines
Preferred / Good to Have
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Synapse
- Familiarity with orchestration tools like Airflow
- Python scripting beyond Spark use cases
- Exposure to Agile/DevOps delivery practices
- Domain experience in Banking, BFSI, or Analytics

- Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Adaptability in dynamic project environments
