Position Overview
The GIS Analyst I will work closely with the GIS team to improve data organization, perform data clean-up activities, and maintain GIS resources across both local and enterprise environments. This role will support the review, evaluation, and optimization of GIS data, maps, applications, and content stored in ArcGIS platforms and local project repositories.
The successful candidate will collaborate with IT GIS staff and departmental GIS users to ensure data integrity, consistency, and relevance while supporting ongoing GIS initiatives and election-related GIS activities.
This position requires strong GIS technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Participate in comprehensive GIS data review and clean-up activities across local files and enterprise systems.
• Review, organize, and streamline GIS resources, removing outdated or unnecessary content.
• Support GIS mapping projects, database updates, reporting, and ad hoc GIS initiatives.
• Create, edit, and maintain GIS datasets using ArcGIS platforms.
• Develop and modify static maps and web-based maps.
• Collaborate with IT GIS staff and departmental GIS personnel to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
• Learn and utilize Elections software (Total Vote and Total Address) to process and integrate election GIS data.
• Maintain accurate status reporting and communicate project progress effectively.
• Contribute ideas and recommendations to improve team efficiency and service delivery.
• Ensure GIS data integrity, relevance, and proper organization across multiple platforms.
Required Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
• Minimum 4 years of GIS experience or experience in a related field.
Required Technical Skills
• Intermediate proficiency with:
o ArcGIS Pro
o ArcGIS Online
o ArcGIS Enterprise
• Experience using ArcGIS software to:
o Create and edit GIS data
o Create and modify static maps
o Create and modify web maps
• Experience organizing, reviewing, and cleaning GIS datasets and project files.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Required Soft Skills

• Experience supporting local government organizations.
• Experience with ServiceNow.
• Strong documentation, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
