Position Details

  • Title: SAP ABAP Developer

  • Location: Torrance, CA / Martinez, CA

  • Duration: Contract

  • Work Mode: Onsite

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance, and support SAP ABAP applications in both production support and development projects.

  • Design, develop, and maintain ABAP Reports, ALV Reports, Module Pool Programs, Dialog Programs, Smart Forms, Workflows, BAPIs, BDCs, ALE/IDocs, and user enhancements.

  • Develop enhancements using BADIs, Customer Exits, Implicit Enhancements, and other SAP enhancement frameworks.

  • Debug standard SAP code, analyze complex production issues, and implement long-term solutions through root cause analysis.

  • Develop and optimize REST and SOAP web services while improving SAP HANA SQL performance.

  • Design and develop dialog screens using Screen Painter and Menu Painter.

  • Create invoice print programs using Smart Forms and associated control programs.

  • Collaborate with offshore ABAP development teams and functional consultants to deliver custom SAP solutions.

  • Utilize SAP Custom Code Lifecycle Management (CCLM) and perform ATC remediation to improve custom code quality and reduce technical debt.

  • Participate in SAP implementation, upgrade, enhancement, and support activities while ensuring compliance with development standards.

  • Work closely with Product Owners and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable SAP solutions.

  • Coordinate effectively with offshore teams operating in the IST time zone.
Required Skills

  • Strong experience working in SAP ABAP Support and Development projects.

  • Hands-on expertise in ABAP Reports, ALV Reports, Module Pool Programming, Dialog Programming, Smart Forms, Workflows, BDCs, BAPIs, ALE/IDocs, BADIs, Customer Exits, and Implicit Enhancements.

  • Experience debugging standard SAP programs and resolving complex production support issues.

  • Strong experience with REST/SOAP Web Services, SAP HANA SQL optimization, and Support Pack remediation.

  • Experience developing Screen Painter and Menu Painter applications.

  • Hands-on experience with SAP Custom Code Lifecycle Management (CCLM) and ATC Remediation.

  • Knowledge of SAP Upgrade and Implementation projects.

  • Strong communication, analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with onsite, offshore, and cross-functional teams.
Preferred Experience

  • Experience with Web Dynpro for ABAP, ABAP Objects (OOABAP), and SAP Web Services.

  • Exposure to AI/Generative AI technologies within SAP.

  • Experience with GitHub Copilot for developer productivity.

  • Knowledge of Machine Learning, Prompt Engineering, and AI-assisted development.

  • Exposure to SAP Joule for Developers (J4D) and SAP IP-Tools.

  • Experience working in large-scale SAP implementation, upgrade, and global support projects.
