Role Title: SysAdmin / DevOps Engineer (Middleware)
Fully Remote
Full time

Required Skills
- Strong experience as a Middleware System Administrator / DevOps Engineer.
- Hands-on expertise with JBoss EAP 7.x/8.x administration.
- Strong experience with Azure DevOps (Repos, Pipelines, CI/CD, Release Management).
- Experience with JBoss standalone and domain mode administration.
- Experience configuring and managing JBoss clustering and failover.
- Experience deploying enterprise applications (WAR/EAR) using GUI and CLI.
- Strong knowledge of:

- Experience analyzing thread dumps, heap dumps, and server logs.

Responsibilities
Platform Installation & Administration
- Install, configure, administer, and maintain JBoss EAP environments across Development, QA, Staging, and Production.
- Configure standalone and domain mode environments.
- Configure clustering and failover for high availability.
- Manage integrations between enterprise applications and middleware components.
- Configure Azure DevOps integrations for automated deployments.
- Support mod_jk and mod_cluster configurations.
Deployment & Release Management
- Manage Azure DevOps repositories, branching strategies, pull requests, approvals, and releases.
- Design and maintain Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
- Deploy WAR/EAR applications using GUI and CLI tools.
- Perform rolling deployments across server groups.
- Execute post-deployment validation, health checks, smoke testing, and log analysis.
- Develop rollback procedures, deployment runbooks, and operational documentation.
- Participate in change management and release activities.
Operations & Production Support
- Perform day-to-day middleware administration and production support.
- Troubleshoot authentication, authorization, web server, and JBoss runtime issues.
- Monitor production environments and implement proactive alerting.
- Analyze operational trends and improve platform reliability.
- Produce operational and performance reports.
Patch & Configuration Management
- Plan and execute JBoss upgrades, fix packs, and patching activities.
- Perform OS and middleware patching.
- Maintain environment baselines and configuration standards.
- Coordinate upgrade activities across multiple teams.
Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting
- Tune JVM heap, garbage collection, thread pools, datasource pools, and web server configurations.
- Analyze thread dumps, heap dumps, and server logs.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
- Collaborate with development teams to resolve application performance issues.
- Coordinate with product vendors when required.
Automation
- Automate middleware administration using Shell/Bash scripts.
- Develop scripts for deployments, health checks, housekeeping, validation, and monitoring.
- Improve operational efficiency through automation.
Capacity Planning
- Monitor resource utilization and system performance.
- Perform capacity planning for future growth.
- Recommend infrastructure improvements to enhance scalability and reliability.
Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with infrastructure, networking, security, DevOps, and application support teams.
- Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge base articles.
- Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams.
- Demonstrate ownership, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
